Jefferson Ball
Sep. 30th, 2013 07:10 pmI finally sent in my registration for the Jefferson Ball in November. I feel like I've put it off quite a long time, but I see in my checkbook that I paid for last year's ball on 10/6 so maybe I'm a little more timely than I feel like I am.
I think I'm going to wear the 1750's print sacque, though I'm considering the 1770's rust taffeta. I really shouldn't worry about it just yet because I still need to figure out what I'm wearing to the ball in Old Salem this weekend! It's billed as an 18th century ball, but I really want to wear my copper 1820's dress since I didn't get to wear it to the James Monroe ball this summer. (As far as I can tell, there was no James Monroe ball this summer.) The invitation says "Colonial, Regency or evening clothing please." 1825 isn't exactly Regency, but it's close enough, right?
So do I wear the stuff from the right century, or do I wear the stuff I really want to wear?
