Memorial Park Picnic

Partly cloudy with highs in the upper 70’s is about the best weather possible, and that’s exactly what everyone at Memorial Park got on the afternoon of Saturday 11/5/16, including everyone who attended the fall picnic held by the Houston Area Regency Society.

Attendees from left to right: (back) TC, KC, LG, GG, MG, MB, RL (front) MB, SL
We gathered about 1:00 in a shady alcove furnished with picnic tables and arranged the comestibles on one of the tables, overflowing onto a folding wooden table provided by GG and MG. Then we fixed ourselves plates and sat down to enjoy ourselves.

Once we had eaten, we found that several of us had brought period activities to pursue through the rest of the afternoon. TC set up his easel and palette and began a new oil painting.

RL demonstrated a few fencing moves with MG.

MB and SL sat down to some needlework in a cozy circle with the other ladies.

The younger MB played at nine-pins (not pictured).
Off and on throughout the afternoon, RL played period tunes on his flute and tin whistle, which was one of the crowning touches to the picnic. Unfortunately, we don't seem to have a picture of him playing.
It was such a pleasant and relaxing afternoon, but of course it eventually came to an end. We packed up to head home, looking forward to our next excursion.

Pictures taken by GG, MG, and MB.
