Here is my year in review. I'll put it behind a cut, but first here's a picture of my favorite dress ever.

April:

1784 Garters
1877/92 knitted blue bag
19th Century Bag
1871 knitted fanchon hood
1871 Knitted Fanchon 2
18th century linen fichu (I don't seem to have any pictures of this, though I think there are some out there. I need to get copies of the pictures from our trip to Williamsburg in May.)

May:
18th century green linen apron (The same goes for this as for my kerchief. I need to get pictures from Williamsburg.)

I stopped sewing at Easter when we began to consider a move from Virginia to Texas. Other than finishing an apron, knitting on my lunch hours or when riding in a car, and a week in July when I was guarding a door at work and free to do as I pleased as long as I didn't desert my post, I didn't do any needlework from Easter until the first weekend in August. We finished remodeling our 1926 house, which I was very sorry to leave. We put almost eight years and lots of thought and money into the house so it was about as perfect as a house can get. I don't regret the move, but I wish we could have kept the house.

I never got very good pictures of the finished house, but the staircase trim was about the last thing we did. There were pictures taken for the listing, but I didn't think to save them at the time and don't know where to find them now.

Once we moved into the new house at the end of September, I got to start sewing again.

November:

1880s Combinations - Front

UFO’s as of the New Year (in the order begun):
18th century knitted pinball – hopefully I’ll actually work on this one this year. I started it September 2013 and worked twelve rows before I laid it aside.

1849 stockings – only about a hundred rows left to knit, maybe a bit more, so they’ll be done before too long. I work on these when I’m out and about so they go through spurts.

1871 knitted fanchon – only about forty rows to knit and some assembly. I expect it to be done before the end of the week.

Thank you. Some things just beg to be made, even when you have no idea what you'll do with them, especially knitted stuff. When am I going to use bluing? What would I do with a knitted corset? Don't know, but they needed to be made.

Happy New Year to you too.

I intend to wear the green dress to the museum next weekend, if all goes according to plan. It needs more wear. Lots and lots more wear.

I just LOVE that green dress! And I have nothing but admiration for you knitters - I'll do lots of other silly fiddly things, but knitting is just *beyond*. :D

Thank you.
Knitting is fun, but sewing is more fun. Knitting is usually more portable, though, and is useful for adding accessories.

Thanks. I don't do a lot of sewing for the children, but I can remember the one year we had store-bought Hallowe'en costumes. I never want my children to have to have those.

You had such a productive year, especially with a move right in the middle! I'm very impressed. I really love your pelisse - I think I need one of those in my life. :)

Thank you. The pelisse was nice and warm and a quick sew. I was pretty happy with it.
