I have finished the body of the Olaf costume for my son. I think it's pretty decent. Of course, there's still the head to do...

I played hooky a little this morning and laid out the navy blue parts of a Merida dress for one of my daughters for her birthday. I cut out the ivory parts last week, but I modified the petticoat from the one given in the pattern (Simplicity 1557). I just couldn't see cutting a gored petticoat for a historical-type costume so I tore two full-width panels for the body of the petticoat and four full-width strips for the ruffle around the hem. I am continuing the elastic waist because, after all, it is for a rapidly-growing child, not to mention the lack of hips at that age.
