Regency Navy Silk Faille Reticule

A few weeks before Dress U, I suddenly decided that I really needed a reticule to carry camera and so forth while I wore my Regency gowns. I didn’t expect to have much time to make it so I wanted something simple. I also wanted to use silk.
Sorry I don't have any pictures right now, but I didn't get any at the time. Maybe when I put away my Independence Day things I'll manage to take pictures of it.
Materials:
¼ yd navy silk faille (from Fabric-Mart Fabrics)
¼ yd white cotton batiste (from JoAnn’s)
about 4 yd cream mercerized cotton sport-weight yarn (from Michael’s)
Patterns:
I searched around for a quick and easy pattern on the internet and chose the one on History in My Wardrobe. It was interesting but simple. The only bad thing was that when I printed it, it didn’t come out quite full size.
Construction:
I made up the navy silk reticule and white cotton lining separately on the machine. Then I put the lining inside the navy, pressed under a hem, and treated the two as one for the hem rather than seaming them together, turning, and pressing at the join. Then I threaded two drawstrings and made tassels. It was easy and only took an hour or two.
Thoughts after wearing:
My little navy reticule worked reasonably well, but I wasn’t terribly happy with it. The stiff faille didn’t want to gather very tightly at the opening so the reticule didn’t really close. Then the fact that I made it a little small made it contain less than I would really have preferred. Also it just looks sad and plain. Still, it served its purpose, and I can chalk one up to experience.
