About half of my time this year was spent cross-stitching, which takes a lot of time, but I still made quite a few things. I’m pleased with what I made, but I didn’t make my new favorite thing. There are a couple of things that I still need to get pictures of, but since it’s already January 10, I decided to go ahead and post this and fill them in later.
January

1900’s ivory net hat

1826 ivory bonnet

1902 knitted silk vest

April
1920 tuxedo sweater

Band banquet dress for my daughter

1826 wool promenade dress

May
Vctorian/Edwardian bathing shoes

1930’s wool/rayon blend dress

1940’s knit bag and beret

June
14th century wimple, band, and veil

1880’s Balantyre plaid knickerbocker stockings

14th century linen gown

1826 pelerine

1940’s merino cardigan

July
Three cross-stitched Christmas ornaments for my children

1930’s peach beret to match last year’s swimsuit

August
1940’s knitted block-pattern blouse

I ended the year with three projects in hand.
1. “Street Scene” cross-stitch – This is a large, sepia-toned picture with extremely subtle shading. It’s really, really slow to work. I started it in January 2023 and had it 25% complete at the beginning of 2024. After working on it steadily all year except while I did my daughters' Christmas stockings, it’s now 60% complete.
2. 1901 bicycling sweater – As of 1/1/25, I just had part of the second sleeve to knit. I finished the knitting on 1/2/25 and have now assembled it. I should finish off the buttonholes today, and then it will be finished.
3. 1919 cape sweater – I started this between Christmas and New Year’s since I knew I was close to finishing the bicycling sweater. I’m well into the first piece.
I also read 68 books this year.
I’m continuing to try to work from my stash. I’m not sure how successful I’ve been. I bought a few pieces of fabric of only a few yards from estate sales and three dress lengths of fabric for other projects. Most of my knitting projects came from new yarn. That being said, projects have been started for all the yarn I bought this year except the fine white cotton that I got at an estate sale. I need to find more small things to make with the leftover yarns from previous projects. During the summer, my mother-in-law gave me all of her embroidery thread since she can’t embroider any more. I also bought three cross-stitch Christmas stocking kits. I made two stockings so it was only a net increase of one kit. Overall, I think it was probably close to net zero but may have been a slight increase. I shall continue to make efforts to use what I have rather than buying more.
