My second small project from my trip to Virginia ended up taking a lot more time after the knitting was done. It worked out nicely that I had all the materials in hand except for bran. The grocery store doesn't carry bran either (unless you want Raisin Bran or Bran Flakes) so I put a little rice in a muslin bag at the bottom for weight and then stuffed the satin cushion with wool roving.

1896 Basket Pincushion

It's really cute, and I think it came out looking very much like the pattern illustration. It came out the same size too since the circle at the bottom is 1.5" in diameter as stated in the pattern, and the handle is 10" long, again as given. I think the proportions look similar.

That is so cute! I love the variety of decorative-yet-useful pincushions one can make.

It's so cute and looks just like the illustration. I actually thought those two things before I saw that you had written the exact same! Also, it's neat that it's a pincushion. They had so many different shapes/styles back then.
