Tatted Garters

I've been working off and on at a pair of tatted garters from a pattern published in 1895. As so often happens with novices, I didn't realize how difficult a pattern it was. Some of the joins are quite awkward to do. Still, I'm satisfied with how it's going. Besides, it's not like garters are really on display. One of the things that makes it more difficult is that the pattern called for silk, which is much slipperier than the cotton I used for my first project.



In knitting news, I finished knitting a sweater yesterday so now I just have to press it and sew it together.

Thanks! I thought it would be a fairly quick project as opposed to miles of edging.

Neat and pretty! But it does look very fiddly to do to my completely uneducated eye.

It is definitely fiddly to do. The first half was really easy, but in the second half, there are two joins on each repeat that are rather hard to position.

That looks really pretty! You must have such amazing levels of patience to be able to do such tiny fiddly work.

I actually think of it as levels of impatience - I get so bored listening to my son read or watching TV that I have to do something! Fortunately, I don't have lots of events so I don't have lots of time pressure on things.
