2017 Year in Review

I ended up doing a lot of cross-stitching this year, which made great inroads on my cross-stitch kit stash. Of course, that was at the expense of sewing, but I’m still pleased with what I finished this year.
My favorite thing of the year is my 1897 Harper’s Bazar ivory wool dress.

January:
“Peaceful Evening” Christmas stocking

1846 corkscrew muffatees

1830’s child’s petticoat

1830’s child’s dress in blue paisley cotton

1860’s evening chemise

February:
1858 sortie cap for Ginger

Mid-1830’s brown print cotton poplin dress

March:
1830’s sleeve supports and chemisette

1830’s bonnet

Regency girls’ shift and petticoat

Regency girls’ dress in red striped cotton

April:
18th century pinball with a ship at sail

Aran cardigan

May:
1897 Harper’s Bazar ivory wool dress

18th century white linen petticoat

Late 18th century gold linen jacket and paprika linen petticoat

June:
Late 18th century linen shift

Yellow 18th century stockings
“Welcome” cross-stitch

1860’s drill corset

Green plaid tam

July:
“Palace Illumination” cross-stitch

September:
18th century silk organza cap

“Windswept Santa” cross-stitch

Three felt applique Christmas ornaments

October:
Early 19th century red silk long purse (miser’s purse)

Ninja turtle costume and two witch costumes

November:
18th century pinball with a flowering branch

Striped 1790 dress
(I haven’t put the whole thing on yet so I don’t have a picture of me in it.)

1919 slipover
(I did try to take pictures the day I wore it, but they were terrible so I’ll try again at the next wearing.)

These are the current UFO's.
17th century knit garters: The first garter is 60% finished. This is a background or traveling project. They’re not going quickly, but they progress a little every week. I do expect to finish the pair by the end of 2018.

Early/mid-18th century stays: These are really close to finished. I need to bind half the tabs on one side and put in the lining on that side. I ran out of binding and need to get some more.

“Southern Belles” cross-stitch: This is barely started. I started it to have a hand-sewing project to work on at any given moment, but then I started my new stays right afterward, which gave me a hand-sewing project. I expect this one to be a very long term project, like may not finish in 2018 long term.
