On the Twelfth Day of Christmas...

...I got my sewing machine back from the shop and finished my first sewing project of the year. The cross-stitched Christmas stocking is finished.

I had to piece the felt backing because it was about 3/4" too short for the stocking, and I backed the embroidery with a piece of cotton broadcloth so that nothing gets snagged. The only other variation from the kit is that I sewed the hanger inside the stocking because sewing it to the outside looked dorky in the photo on the front of the kit.
This kit has probably been in my closet for ten years so I'm really glad to have finally made it. I need to do some more cross-stitching this year so I can make further inroads on stuff I've had a really long time.
