Stretchy, Very Stretchy

I pressed my sweater and the belt that goes with it. The belt was knit to 28" long, and I expected it to grow a couple of inches in blocking. It grew by at least 8" by the time I first wrapped it around my waist. When I tried the sweater on, it stretched even more. In order to get any tension on the waist of the sweater, the belt has to overlap a ridiculous amount and starts to curl in on itself. I'm going to count it as a loss and just wear a regular leather belt with the sweater.

The sweater is really nice, though. Soft and with some drape.

Perhaps I'll manage to get pictures later this week.

So much stretch! It's so hard to tell how much something will stretch. I think a regular belt will be great!

I probably should have expected more than 2" of stretch in blocking since it's got eyelets all over the place, but growing by maybe 50% seems excessive.

I'm trying to decide whether to salvage the yarn since I still have a bit over a ball left or just throw the belt in the trash and let it know what I think of it.
