Quilt Square

I made another quilt square. Laceweight cotton yarn and a pattern from "Weldon's Practical Knitter."

The petal middle has some nice depth. Are you making a quilt?

No, I just wanted to try out a couple of the quilt squares. I’m thinking about making a throw out of some worsted weight yarn I’ve got left over from a cardigan and using one of these old quilt patterns.

That's a very pretty pattern. Is that what they call a roseleaf pattern?

Thank you. I don't know if "roseleaf pattern" applies to this, but there are several patterns that have similar looking leave that call them different things. This particular pattern happened to call them willow leaves. The only willows I've seen (weeping willows and desert willows) have much longer, thinner leaves so it seems like it's just a name. If you read a reference to a roseleaf pattern, you probably wouldn't be too far off if you thought of this.

Thank you. I had nine hours in a car when someone else was driving a couple of weeks ago, which was enough to do about half of the square.
