Quilt Block

I made another late 19th century quilt block right after I finished the beaded purse a few weeks ago.



While I like the way it looks very much, I wouldn't want to make a whole quilt with this pattern. Both this octagon and the square that goes between octagons start with joining eight stitches in the round. I wouldn't want to do that dozens of times.

But no, joining 8 stitches in the round isn't fun at all!

Thank you. I just can't imagine doing it over and over. It only took two or three days to knit this block, and the square is much smaller. Maybe after doing it a dozen times in four or five weeks, it would get easier.

Thank you. It would be magnificent, wouldn't it? Sometimes I wonder how many of these patterns were ever actually made. This is one that I wouldn't be surprised to find no one wanted to make, beautiful as it is.

This is gorgeous, but the idea of making an entire quilt with the pattern is a yikes.

Thank you. This is my favorite one yet for looks but definitely not my favorite for making. If I ever actually do a quilt, I'll stick to one with square blocks.
