Since there weren’t a lot of events in 2021, I tried to spend time on more time-consuming projects. I still made some quick stuff, but I didn’t feel that I churned things out.

1867 Evening Dress

Pictures on me later when I feel like doing my hair and it's not 100 degrees outside. So that probably means September?

Almost!

I just need a couple of hooks and eyes on the belt to finish the 1867 evening dress. If I can make myself bother to put everything on to mark where they go, I'll be finished with it tonight.

I apparently have been really bad at posting progress on my late 1860's evening dress. I sat down just now to post about having trimmed on of the tails for the belt and realized that I might not have posted about having made the skirt or finished the bodice. Sure enough, I didn't.

So to move in chronological order...

The pattern is [personal profile] chocolatepot's 1867 Pink Pingat (https://www.etsy.com/listing/789041447/e-pattern-the-pink-pingat-evening-gown?ref=hp_rv-5).

I made the skirt in April.

It's basically unaltered from the pattern dimensions. I attached it to a petersham waistband so that I would have the option to make myself a second bodice in the future if I had such a desire.

Then I finished the bodice in mid-May.

I made some alterations for this one - I curved the side back seam on the center back section as well as the side back, and I altered the side seams so they went across a pair of sizes. I also cut the armscyes a bit smaller. The trim is based on that on the original gown but not identical.

Now I've started the belt, and I finished trimming one of the two tails over the weekend.

I got the shape of the tails on the original from [personal profile] chocolatepot; it's not part of the pattern. The gap in the pearls is where it will fold to make a loop and an end. The trimming is inspired by but not identical to the original.

Last night was bodice eyelet night. I actually finished them all in one night and am highly satisfied with them.
