All the work around the house has led to less sewing than I might have liked, but I think I'll still achieve my goal for the week.
The trip to Dallas was good for my knitting (among other things) - I knit five or six pattern repeats of the lace for my 1890's petticoat. I have fewer than eighty to go. This is not a short term project. I also worked on my sweater some more and have finished the ribbing at the bottom of the front. Now it's back into the pattern. I also ordered another skein of yarn since I'm quite certain I'll run out. That's what happens when you buy material for a short-sleeved sweater and decide to make a long-sleeved sweater.
I have nearly finished off the Christmas ornaments. All the embroidery is finished, and I just have to assemble everything. I should easily be able to finish that tonight and maybe even spend a little time on my spencer. Or I might get a jump on next year's ornaments like I did last year. We'll see.
In non-sewing accomplishments, we have reworked the children's lighting so that they have independent switches for the lights and fans. That was fun. So much fun. We have also rewired the breaker panel so there are no more nicks in insulation or bare wires hanging around. (That might explain why I kept having to reprogram the sprinkler system...) We have determined that we only have one circuit in the house with a hot neutral. It hasn't been resolved yet so I do have one smoke detector that is out of commission at present (the others are running on their back-up batteries) and no power in the upstairs living area. That also means that our TV is currently limited to a travel DVD player or a tablet. I've discovered that I am much more motivated to cross-stitch when I have the TV on. I've also discovered that I look at the TV less than I thought I did while cross-stitching.
We also replaced the broken toilet in the bathroom and built an 80 sq. ft. platform in the attic for storage. That let us get some things out of the garage so maybe my husband will be able to park in the garage shortly, though he didn't manage his goal of being able to by the end of this weekend.
It has been a very full week.
