In a move that is not very me, I shifted from using knit two together for all the decreases in the pattern on the sweater I'm working on to using knit two together for half the decreases and slip, knit, pass the slipped stitch over for half. I knit the first repeat of the pattern as given and wasn't thrilled by how one side looked like a knit stitch heading across rows to the right and the other side looked twisted. Both sides looked good, but it didn't look very symmetrical. I knit the first few rows of the second repeat with left-leaning decreases for half and liked how it looked so I ripped back to the beginning of the patterned section and started again. I usually like to follow patterns as written, but I know they were using both kinds of decreases by the 1930's so I feel that it is a decision a knitter might have made in 1937. I also am less concerned about historical accuracy for sweaters I'm planning to wear in modern life.
