I washed the fabric for the 1895 split petticoat, and it evidently had a lot of sizing in it because it turns out to be more like lawn than muslin. Instead of making a petticoat out of it, I'm making another set of late 19th century combinations instead. I'm using the same pattern I used ages ago for my first set so I was able to cut them out right away and start putting them together. They won't be super quick, but they won't be interminable either.

Yay - more combinations!

That's quite the difference if something that was slated for petticoats softened up enough to be undergarments. An example of why pre-washing is a good idea.
