I finally took pictures of the shell for my 1940's cable and ladder twinset.







It was a really easy knit - ribbing and stockinette. That's it.

Thank you. It is definitely a necessary closure. The neck is higher than on shells for modern sweater sets/twinsets.

Thank you. When I had to buy more yarn to finish the cardigan, it seemed like I ought to go ahead and buy enough to make the jumper/shell too. I've got a few sweater sets/twinsets that aren't vintage, though they're working on 20 years old so I suppose they're fast becoming vintage!
