I finally got someone to take pictures of my barrister's wig on my head instead of a Styrofoam head. I made it a couple of years ago, but I wore it for the first time Hallowe'en week this year and for the second time yesterday.

The first time I wore it, it was inclined to slip backward with just one pin at the front. This time I stuck a pin through the front just behind the bow and a second pin at the top of my chignon. It stayed in place quite well this time.

Everyone else was wearing a hat so I felt slightly underdressed in my hood, but on the other hand, it's fun to have some of the random knitted stuff that the Victorians wrote patterns for. I have no idea, of course, whether anyone actually followed those patterns, but it's fun anyway.

That has been and always will be too much <3 One imagines Cecily teasing Charlotte over her fast ways and this Continental chapeau de style <3

Thanks for posting these photos. I love old knitting patterns and love seeing them made up even more. Looks great.

That is a crazy looking hood. Looks warm, though and glad you made it.

It's so cute! Although I wonder about the person who saw a barrister's wig and thought, "Wouldn't that make a great knitted hood?!"
