I wore the 1930's Helen sweater coat. I don't love it, and I don't hate it.

I made it as written, which is for a 36"-38" bust while I'm a 34" or 35" bust, so I knew it might end up a little big, but I also knew that I probably needed that room through the hip. It's knit without increase or decrease until the armscye. I was right about needing the room for the hip, and the bust didn't end up enormous. The shoulders, though, are a bit wide. The sleeves also don't have a ton of shaping, and while they're a good size in the upper arm, they could stand to be taken in a couple of inches below the elbow to look more like the pattern picture. I'll take it in a bit and wear it a few more times, and maybe I'll come to like it more.

I don't think I'm going to knit anything else out of this book. Some of the shapes are rather odd and don't come out being too great. The next sweater will be from a different 1930's book so we'll see how it goes.

That's a very cute sweater and none of these issues are at all obvious. But it is fun, as a sewer, to have them pointed out, as I appreciate the nitpicking : )
