1908 Golf Glove

After bemoaning having a bunch of worsted weight yarn with no purpose, I decided to ignore it for a bit and knit something that caught my eye while looking through patterns. The 1908 Columbia Book of Yarns had a pattern for a golf glove. After over a decade of not using it, my golf glove is in bad shape so I decided this was perfect.





Two weeks later, I have a glove. The pattern said size 7, but it fits my size 6 hand perfectly. I'll take the boy to hit balls later this week since he's into golf, and we'll see how it works.

That angle on the top is so pretty, and so unusual.

I think any angles are an artifact of the photographs. There are forty rows of a ribbed band and then a dozen rows of stockinette and then about fifty rows of smooth on the palm/patterned on the back and then the fingers start.

Thanks. I'm curious myself! Modern gloves are all made of leather, whether real or synthetic. I wonder how knitting will work.
