I finally finished the 1890's beaded cuffs over the weekend. Or to be more accurate, I finished them again. These have been more of a pain than I would have thought. First I looked up a bad needle conversion chart and knit the first one on needles a size too large. I reknit that one on smaller needles, and it came out better. Then I had to wait for the rest of the beads to arrive because one tube was not enough, and I accidentally ordered beads from Canada so I had to wait for about three weeks for them to arrive. When they did come, they're not quite the same as the first batch and not as pretty. They have a different part number but the same manufacturer and description. I don't think anyone else will ever look at these things close enough to notice.

I finally knit the second cuff the last week in January, and it came out as big as the first cuff came out the first time. I don't think I've ever had anything come out a different size on the same needles. Maybe it was because the yarn got stretched more while reknitting the first one. So I ended up reknitting the second one over the weekend. I used the same needles and was just more conscious of keeping more tension on the yarn.

They're done now, but it was just not the simple "let's pull something out of the queue and knit it up while I wait for my waistcoat yarn to arrive" project that I had expected.

So pretty! Good on you for pushing through and getting them done in spite of all the unexpected setbacks.

They're very pretty, even if they didn't want to come together!
