I finished a corset using the c. 1901 pattern from Corsets and Crinolines a few months ago and finally took pictures a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what I'm going to use it for, but a friend was making her first corset so I made this while helping her with hers. I was able to use the pattern almost exactly as is. I just took a hair off of every seamline except the hip pieces. It's a single layer of coutil with artificial whalebone.

I really like the way all the bones come together at the bottom of the front. I don't think it would be so noticeable without the flossing so I'm definitely glad I did the flossing on it.

c. 1901 Corset Back

Someone had recommended cotton macrame cord to me as a lacing material, but I hate it. It made my hands hurt trying to tighten the corset so I'm going to replace it at some point. Then I expect that the lacing will actually be even down the back. It was when I had the mock-up laced with a ribbon. It will also let me knot the laces at the bust so they don't work their way tighter at the top.

Looks great! The flossing is really pretty. I love how neat and tidy your corsets always look. And it's cool that you can really see the S-curve silhouette shaping in this corset. Good to know about the macrame cord. Thanks for sharing your experience!
