1920 Tuxedo Sweater
Apr. 11th, 2024 05:43 pmI wore my 1920 tuxedo sweater to work the other day and actually took pictures after I got home. I wasn't trying to style it for 1920 so it's over jeans and a blouse, but you can still see that it's a rather 1920 silhouette.

It ended up feeling very wintry for early April. It wasn't hot or anything, but a garter-stitch sweater has a fluffiness to it that makes you think of winter rather than spring. When folded, it makes a thick, soft bundle of wool.
I don't love it, and I don't hate it. It's from 1920 so I never expected to love it. I think it looks right, and that's important to me. I wore it without the belt most of the day, and the collar did not want to sit right. In the few minutes I had the belt on in the evening, it seemed better. I might go back and tack the collar down so that I will be assured of it staying folded back. I do want to be able to wear it open without the belt for modern wear without constantly fussing with the collar. I might try to steam it into submission first, but my hopes aren't high. I certainly don't want to press it.
