I put on my 1901 corset a few weeks ago and decided that 15" of undervest was long enough. That meant I needed about 18" of knitting, unstretched. This week I reached that point and actually started one of the strap extension pieces. The construction on this seems like it's going to be a little weird. There is absolutely no shaping for the armscye. I guess I sew the front to the back along the edges of the pieces and then stop sewing them together at the underarm and let the straps flex around my shoulder joint? We'll see how that goes. I might end up making a sort of underarm gusset to put between in the top of the seam if it looks too weird. Adventures in Victorian knitting - sometimes it all turns out fine, weird though it seems, and sometimes it's just weird.

The knitting curls very badly, but I didn't want to pin it all out for a quick picture so it looks like a super skinny panel.
