1805 Dress Done
May. 8th, 2023 06:14 pmI finished the 1805 embroidered dress over the weekend. I'm very pleased with how it came out and think it looks a lot like the dress I used as inspiration.

The fabric is the ramie voile from Burnley and Trowbridge. The embroidery is done in seven colors of Appleton crewel wool. I used stem stitch, chain stitch, and satin stitch. With as much time is in the embroidery I wanted to hand-sew the dress too. I didn't want to risk messing anything up by trying to machine-sew the sheer fabric. Plus, bragging rights.
I originally thought I would run out of the wools I bought, but I still probably had half of each leftover. I'll have to weigh them to know. There should be plenty of yarn for another project - I've wanted to make a flame-stitch wallet, though I might need a black or white or something. A project for another day.
