I finished my nightdress case over the weekend. It's lace-weight cotton yarn backed with a heavy polyester satin that doesn't look super synthetic. This seemed like the perfect project to use up half a yard of the several yards that I have.

The pattern is from Weldon's Practical Needlework Volume 2 from 1887.

I have no idea what I'll use it for, but I'm sure it will be of use for something.

There is a pattern for a matching comb and brush bag too, and I'm considering making that so I'll have the matched set. But not just yet. Interestingly, the comb bag calls for knitting a piece and folding it in half so both sides of the bag are covered in knitting, but the nightdress case does not. It just calls for knitting one piece and then edging it with the lace. I presume it's because most of the nightdress cases I've seen patterns for have a flap, and a flap might look funny overlapping the knitting. I could be wrong.

It was fun to make.

Now I'm just a bit sad that my order of yarn seems to be lost in LA...the last update on the tracking is from three weeks ago when they said they were waiting to receive it in LA after it had left Ohio and Kentucky. Starting my new sweater will just have to wait a bit longer.
