1948 Cardigan
Jan. 18th, 2019 02:30 pmFor years I've kept a white cotton sweater with three-quarter length sleeves in my desk drawer at work for when it's a bit chilly in the office. For years I have disliked it because it doesn't help if I'm wearing long sleeves and the pattern hurts when I lean on my elbow. I finally made a replacement, and it's so much better! It's soft, it has full length sleeves, and it uses a vintage pattern. I love my new sweater and have relegated the old one to the donation pile.
The pattern was for a short-sleeved cardigan, but I lengthened the sleeves. I also added twelve rows to the length of the body since modern pants don't sit at the natural waist. Other than that I knit it as given. The pattern was originally published in 1948. The Ravelry page is here.
