Thank you. I'm not really sure whether they were used as display pieces. There are all kinds of patterns for fancy nightdress cases, brush and comb bags, toilet table covers, washstand backings, etc. in these magazines. There are lots of comments about women liking to have pretty things about them, but I don't know whether many of them were actually made. Weldon's kept printing their paper for about thirty years so I guess the idea was popular, regardless of how much people actually made the items in the patterns.
