I don’t really have any grand over-arching remarks, but I’m pleased with the things I made this year. It was a small year for events – only four: living history days at the Tucson Presidio, the George Washington Ball in Williamsburg, Costume College, and a Victorian Christmas ball in Mesa – but maybe that helped me to make a few things that I actually wear in real life. I hope 2019 will have more events.
January:
Mid-18th century stays

February:
Embroidered 1750’s sacque and petticoat

1940’s green wool jersey dress

Miscellaneous household items (curtains, crochet hook case, dance shoe bag, and Nook case) (not pictured)
March:
1861 copper spoon bonnet (still waiting for trim)

19th century garters for E (not pictured)
May:
1797 tamboured voile dress

June:
1790’s silk gauze fichu

Gray wool vest

1940’s green wool half-circle skirt (not pictured)
July:
Flowered Swiss dot 1940’s dress

Black half-circle skirt for my mother-in-law (not pictured)
Striped lawn 1900’s shirtwaist

August:
17th century knit garters

3 pair of dragon wings for kids (not pictured)
1880’s bustle

1900’s corset

September:
Triceratops costume

Devil genie costume

Vampire costume

1930’s blue linen/cotton sweater

3 felt applique Christmas ornaments

October:
1895 gold silk tatted garters

1918 ivory sateen dress

November:
1880’s red/cream check ball gown

1883 chemise

December:
“Window Shopping” cross-stitch

1940 tan plaid wool dress

UFO’s
“Southern Belles” cross-stitch: This is about 3/8 finished. It’s a background project that I work on when I want some hand-sewing but don’t have a hand-sewing project in progress. Sometimes I try to alternate days on it with days on my current sewing project. My goal is to finish it by the end of 2020.
White wool 1948 cardigan: I finished the year with fifteen rows left to go on the second sleeve. The body was blocked and sewn together. New Year’s Day I finished knitting the sleeve and knit the collar and blocked both those pieces. I sewed the rest together on the second so this is no longer a UFO, but it was at the end of 2018.
Putting this together has made me realize that I’m actually rather in arrears on posting finished projects so I’ll have to put some effort into that over the next few weeks.
