c. 1901 Corset
I finished a corset using the c. 1901 pattern from Corsets and Crinolines a few months ago and finally took pictures a few weeks ago. I'm not sure what I'm going to use it for, but a friend was making her first corset so I made this while helping her with hers. I was able to use the pattern almost exactly as is. I just took a hair off of every seamline except the hip pieces. It's a single layer of coutil with artificial whalebone.
I really like the way all the bones come together at the bottom of the front. I don't think it would be so noticeable without the flossing so I'm definitely glad I did the flossing on it.

Someone had recommended cotton macrame cord to me as a lacing material, but I hate it. It made my hands hurt trying to tighten the corset so I'm going to replace it at some point. Then I expect that the lacing will actually be even down the back. It was when I had the mock-up laced with a ribbon. It will also let me knot the laces at the bust so they don't work their way tighter at the top.

It was me who suggested the cotton macrame cord. I'm sorry it didn't work out for you! I hope you find something that you like better, and that is easier on your hands. Admittedly, my hands are pretty tough these days.

I remembered that you suggested the cord. My hands are not very tough. I still think it will be useful for filling rouleaux the next time I make an 1820's dress or something.
