Picnic Dress Finished

I finished the 1780's round gown I was trying to make for the Georgian picnic last weekend. Friday night I had it finished except for setting the skirt to the bodice, but I did not want to stay up terribly late when I had plenty of perfectly good clothes to wear. Tuesday I set the skirt, and today I took pictures. I'm quite pleased with the dress.

It is mostly hand-sewn. The exceptions are the skirt seams, the sleeve seams, and the bottom half of the armscye seams. I have a hard time getting worked up about hand-sewn seams that are completely invisible from the outside.

Those who follow [livejournal.com profile] mandie_rw may recognize the fabric. Those who follow [livejournal.com profile] reine_de_coudre might almost recognize the dress. Apparently, we all bought fabric in the same Fabric.com sale a few years ago. They just got around to sewing theirs up a little sooner than I did.

That turned out so pretty! I'm looking forward to seeing how you accessorize it. It looks like you could do so many fun things with it.

It definitely needs colorful accessories, but I'm not quite sure what they'll be yet. If I had thought of it at the time, I'd have taken a picture with my green apron.
