1924 Beaded Purse

I finished my beaded silk purse based on a pattern published in 1924. The pattern called it "A smart bag of ample size." I didn't really know what they meant by that, but it came out larger than I had expected. My phone fits in it easily with plenty of room for other things. My wallet doesn't quite fit through the clasp, but it's close. I could have gotten a larger frame, but I didn't really realize that the 4" on the frame I got was the bottom measurement not the top measurement. (I should have thought of that when ordering, but I didn't.)

1924 Beaded Purse

I'm really pleased with how it came out. I love the feel of it even more than the look. There's something so fluid about the heavily beaded knitting. The purse twist and beads came from Fire Mountain Gems, and the frame and chain came from Laci's. It's lined with silver silk taffeta from Fabric Mart Fabrics.

Wow it's so lovely! I know what you mean about the fluid weight of beading; so pleasant and tactile.

That is really gorgeous! I've handled some heavily beaded pieces before, and the feeling is lovely. The weight and flow is unlike anything else.

That looks amazing!!! The length of the lozenges make it look like waves flowing across the bag. The clasp is lovely, too; I love the pattern and the delicate cutouts. How fortunate that it not only fits your phone, but has space besides, haha...Now for your next project you can make a small wallet that fits through the opening...and maybe matches? ;)

Wow, that looks absolutely amazing! Great job! Is it heavy to carry with all that beading?
